Arandelovic showed an early interest in portraits, and accordingly, she was her own first model in front of a mirror. Today, she has extended that interest to photography, where she equally explores her own soul in this way. She has also used the same technique to draw self-portraits – soft pastels, as she did with her other artworks on paper. This technique gives endless opportunities to explore the color shades and find the color that works best. The self-portraits shown here were made between 1987 and the end of her time in Graz. The eyes dominate, looking directly at the viewer. The eyes are full of fear, love, longing, hope, melancholy, courage. Those eyes show a willingness to go all the way.
